“Wait, you’re telling me an old guy with a sword took you down?”

Logan nodded his head. “That’s what happened.”

Bridge scratched the stubble on his chin. It certainly wasn’t the craziest thing he’d heard, not even the craziest thing he’d heard in the last 24 hours. “How old we talking?”

Masa and Logan exchanged glances and Logan shrugged. “Can’t really say. He never offered that information.”

“Master Tanaka was hardly a forthcoming sensei. He had the timelessness of features that you often see in Japanese men.”

“He can’t have been younger than 60, though,” Logan commented. “And a pistol is hardly the equalizer most Westerners imagine it is.”

Bridge nodded grudgingly. “You’ve got that right, brother. I’ve seen this fucker here take down strapped bitches without breaking a sweat. I’m guessing he’s younger than you, though, and sure as shit younger than a 60-year old.” Bridge eyed the assassin, trying hard to guess his age. His plain looks not only helped him blend into a crowd, but obscured his real age. “You’re what, 35?”

“Almost 40,” Logan responded.

Grinning with amusement, Bridge responded, “Huh. You don’t look it. I couldn’t tell.”

“If the Master had the element of surprise,” Masa began, leaving the rest unsaid. “Surprise is a weapon of immeasurable power.”

“So why didn’t he kill you?” Bridge asked.

“He saw something in me, or at least that’s what he told me when I woke.”
